The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) recorded multiple instances of minor flooding in several cities on Saturday morning, 19 July, following hours of rainfall brought by Tropical Storm Crising and the enhanced Southwest Monsoon.
Most reported floods reached gutter-deep levels — approximately 8 inches — and remained passable to all types of vehicles, according to data from the MMDA’s Metrobase.
In Manila City, flooding was observed in areas along Taft Avenue, UN Avenue, and Kalaw, with portions of Padre Faura, Maria Orosa, and Quirino Extension also affected. These locations remained navigable despite the water buildup.
Quezon City and Navotas reported similar gutter-level flooding, including along Commonwealth Avenue and M. Naval corner E. Tuazon. The MMDA noted that flooding along Commonwealth westbound near Doña Carmen had already subsided by 9:02 AM.
In Mandaluyong, the northbound lane of the EDSA-Shaw Tunnel also experienced gutter-deep flooding early Saturday but remained passable.
