The SM Mall of Asia Arena made history on 9 July as it hosted its first-ever transgender pageant, the Miss International Queen Philippines 2025, drawing a crowd of thousands and showcasing the vibrant pride of the LGBTQIA+ community.
Forty-four candidates from across the country took center stage to celebrate beauty, inclusivity, and identity at the national competition. Anne Patricia Lorenzo-Diaz was crowned Miss International Queen Philippines 2025 and will go on to represent the country in the international finals in Thailand.
“This is more than a pageant — it’s a powerful platform for advocacy and self-expression,” organizers emphasized, noting that the event is affiliated with the world’s largest pageant for transgender women since 2004, which also promotes awareness on LGBTQIA+ issues and the fight against AIDS.
The event marked a milestone for SM MOA Arena, aligning with its commitment to champion diversity and inclusivity. Supporters showed up in full force in colorful, glamorous outfits, embracing the night’s message of individuality and pride.
Adding to the pageant’s energy were interactive booths stationed around the venue, where attendees explored advocacy efforts and self-love through technology and creativity.
Pageant hosts Sean Kyle Ortega and Jervi Li (popularly known as KaladKaren) kept spirits high throughout the evening, with each candidate delivering heartfelt messages of purpose, pride, and empowerment.
The emotional climax came as outgoing titleholder Sophia Nicole Arkanghel took her final walk before passing the crown to Diaz, whose first walk as queen was met with cheers, tears, and standing ovations.
The pageant, held in partnership with Aquila Crystal Palace Inc., closed on a note of inspiration, urging Filipinos to celebrate their identities and honor their self-worth—on stage and beyond.
