Strong Group Athletics (SGA) opened its tifle defense with a convincing 67-56 win over Chinese Taipei-A in the 44th William Jones Cup on Sunday at the Xinzhuang Gymnasium in New Taipei City.
With the win over Taiwanese in a rematch of last year's title decider, SGA is in a pole position to repeat in this year's Jones Cup.
Andre Roberson dropped a double-double game of 17 points and 19 rebounds as SGA came out victorious despite the absence of veteran point guard Kiefer Ravena, who is in Greece for an event with his sneaker brand.
Ian Miller also made a big contribution to SGA with 16 points.
Ying Chun Chen led the Taiwanese with 14 points and five rebounds.
SGA will next face Japan on Monday at 5 p.m. at the same venue.
