The Philippine soft tennis team is assured of eight bronze medals after making it to the semifinals of the 18th Poland Cup.
Southeast Asian (SEA) Games gold medalist Joseph Arcilla made it to the semis of the men’s singles while Princess Catindig and Airies Tanawan are also assured of at least bronze medals in the women’s singles.
Arcilla is also set to join forces with Patrick Mendoza in the semifinal of the men’s doubles as well as Adjuthor Moralde II and Sherwin Nuguit.
In the women’s doubles, Catindig and Bien Zoleta team up as they vie for a spot in the final.
Catindig is also set to join hands with Nuguit in the mixed doubles category while Michael Enriquez and Wenifredo de Leon are partnering in the 40+ men’s doubles.
All matches are being played at press time.
The Filipinos are using this competition as part of their preparation for the Mungyeong Asian Soft Tennis Championships in Mungyeong, South Korea from 13 to 23 September.
A one-month training camp will be set up in South Korea before the Asian Championships so they can boost their chances of winning.
