Baricuatro clinches first World Boxing Cup silver

Jay Bryan Baricautro settled for asilver medal after a unanimous decision loss to home bet  Sanzhar Tashkenbay in their men's 50-kilogram championship bout at the World Boxing Cup in Astana on Sunday.

It was still a good run for the Talisay, cebu native as he was the only Filipino pug in the delelgation to get into the podium.

Bariciatro defeated Salvatore Attrattivo of Italy in the opening round before defeating Jadumani Singh Mandengbam of India in the quarterfinal.

He then defeated Omer Izaz of Australia in the semifinal for a shot at the gold medal.
