For the second consecutive year, the Commission on Elections (Comelec) received an unqualified opinion from the Commission on Audit (COA).

An unmodified opinion — also referred to as an unqualified opinion — is issued when the auditor concludes that the financial statements are presented fairly, in all material respects, in accordance with the applicable financial reporting framework.

Comelec Chairperson George Garcia hailed the development as a "historic first."

“Ang Comelec ay nagkaroon ng unqualified opinion. Wala pong nakitang problema, depekto, o kaya ay excesses sa submission natin ng accounting document (The Comelec had an unqualified opinion. COA found no problems, defects, or excesses in our submission of accounting documents),” Garcia said.

The Comelec chief said the COA report proves that the poll body is "transparent and properly accountable."

"Yan po ay pinaninindigan ng Comelec hanggang matapos yung termino namin ni Commissioner [Ernesto] Maceda Jr. (That is what the Comelec is upholding until the end of Commissioner Maceda’s term).”

The Comelec first received an unqualified opinion in 2024.
