CAMANAVA reelectionists mark new terms
The newly reelected mayors of Caloocan, Malabon, and Valenzuela officially began their new three-year terms this week, outlining priorities and reflecting on their recent victories.
Over at Caloocan City, Mayor Dale Gonzalo Malapitan took his oath of office at the Caloocan Sports Complex, emphasizing the continuation of his programs during his second term.
Without naming individuals, Malapitan appeared to address suggestions that money influenced the recent midterm elections.
“It wasn’t money that prevailed in the last election, but compassion and genuine service over the years,” Malapitan said.
His remarks followed a statement from Caloocan mayoral candidate Antonio Trillanes IV, who hinted after the election that his campaign could not overcome the “money force” wielded by opponents. “But we still couldn’t withstand the power of our opponent’s money, which exploits the poverty of our fellow citizens just to remain in power,” Trillanes had said.
Malapitan vowed that his administration would repay the votes with hard work and dedicated service.
In Malabon City, Mayor Jeannie Sandoval kicked off her new term by launching the “Mobile Services on Wheels” program.
The initiative will deploy various specialized vehicles to the city’s 21 barangays, including a Mobile Power Washer, Mobile Shower, Mobile Charging Station, Mobile Water Tanker, Mobile Water Purifier/Charging Station and Mobile Kitchen.
Medical services such as dental checkups, laboratory testing, HIV testing, and general medical consultations will also be available through the city’s Mobile Clinic, Mobile X-ray Services from Culion Foundation Incorporated, and a Dental Health Bus.
“Alongside strengthening our programs, we are also ensuring that more of our fellow citizens — including their beloved pets — benefit from them,” Sandoval said. “That is why we will strive even harder to expand and increase the programs meant for you.”
At Valenzuela City, Mayor Weslie Gatchalian took his oath of office at Casa De Polo, where tribute was paid to outgoing three-term councilors.
Gatchalian pledged that his second term would see continued efforts to develop Valenzuela City into a more liveable and inclusive place by bringing quality services directly to its barangays.
