
First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos graced the fashion show KatHABI which showcased the incredible uses of abaca on 26 June at the Manila Hotel.
According to Mrs. Marcos, abaca is a celebration of Filipino ingenuity.
“From the hands that nurture the soil to the minds that shape design, this celebration of abaca tells the story of Filipino creativity, resilience, and sustainability – woven proudly into every thread,” she wrote on her social media account.
She was also in awe of the amazing display of abaca clothing by Avel Bacudio, Jun Escario, the Davao Fashion Design Council, and more.
The First Lady extended her greetings to the people behind KatHABI.
“Congratulations to the farmers, researchers, and designers behind KatHABI: The Textile Innovation Fashion Show x IPB Abaca Hybrid!” she wrote.
Followers of the First Lady couldn’t help but share their excitement over the latest government initiative.
“This project truly reflects the resilience and spirit of our farmers and creators,” one user said.

Meanwhile, Mrs. Marcos also shared interesting trivia with her supporters.
“Fun fact: [Presidential Decree] 729 which established the Institute of Plant Breeding was signed by President Ferdinand E. Marcos Sr. exactly 50 years ago. What a full-circle moment of legacy and innovation!” the First Lady said.
