The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) apprehended two male suspects caught red-handed stealing telephone cables along Juan Luna Street, Binondo, Manila, on Tuesday night.

The incident unfolded after a 911 report was relayed to patrolling officers of the Juan Luna Police Community Precinct, MPD Station 11, who were already conducting a routine motorcycle patrol in the vicinity.

Within three minutes, the officers responded to the location and spotted the suspects in the act—cutting and collecting approximately 2.5 meters of telephone cable wires. A pair of cutter pliers used in the crime was recovered as physical evidence.

The arrested individuals, both 25-year-old unemployed residents of Tondo, are now under custody pending inquest proceedings for violation of theft in relation to Republic Act 10515, otherwise known as the Anti-Cable Television and Cable Internet Tapping Act of 2013.

The NCRPO reminded the public that theft of communication infrastructure is a serious offense that hampers emergency response systems, disrupts livelihoods, and undermines public welfare.

The public is encouraged to report suspicious activities through official emergency channels and help keep communities safe and secure.
