GENERAL SANTOS CITY —President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. recently visited the newly developed Port of Marawi, reinforcing his administration’s commitment to revitalizing post-conflict communities in Mindanao.
This visit signifies a critical step towards a stronger Mindanao, focusing on strategic infrastructure, digital access and social unity.
The Port of Marawi, with an investment of P261.5 million, features a passenger terminal, fish port, roll-on/roll-off (RoRo) ramp and berthing facilities. This infrastructure is part of the Marawi Recovery, Rehabilitation, and Peacebuilding Program and aims to stimulate economic activity and restore dignity to communities affected by the 2017 siege.
The Mindanao Development Authority (MinDA) supports this initiative as vital to the Mindanao Development Corridors strategy, which seeks to integrate Marawi into the island’s logistics and trade network, ensuring all areas benefit from economic growth.
Additionally, the President’s distribution of Starlink internet units to remote schools exemplifies a commitment to technology-driven, people-centered development.
MinDA is dedicated to fostering initiatives that connect infrastructure with social inclusion, ensuring that the peace dividend leads to a brighter and more prosperous Mindanao for all.
