President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. met with Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Nicholas Torre III at Malacañang Palace on Tuesday to receive updates on policies implemented under the new police leadership.
Torre briefed the president on several initiatives, including the PNP’s rapid response capability to emergency calls made through the 911 hotline.
He also showcased live footage from body cameras worn by on-duty patrol personnel, displayed on a tablet.
With public school classes officially starting Monday, Torre reported on “Oplan Balik Eskwela 2025-2026” and the enhanced police visibility measures ordered by the president.
Discussions also covered the government’s anti-illegal drug campaign, as well as training and educational programs for the Department of Justice (DoJ), its prosecutors and other law enforcement agencies.
To recall, Torre on Monday announced that eight police commanders in Metro Manila cities had been relieved of duty for failing to comply with a new five-minute response rule for emergency calls.
Meanwhile, Marcos directed the PNP to collaborate with the Commission on Human Rights to ensure human rights protection is observed in all police operations.
