The Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines Inc. (CAMPI) marked its 30th founding anniversary with a formal celebration held at the Grand Hyatt Manila in Taguig City. The event, themed “30 Years and Beyond: Together, Driving the Future of Mobility,” gathered top officials from the government, key players in the automotive industry, and representatives from CAMPI’s 28 member companies.
Among the guests was Department of Transportation Secretary Vicencio “Vince” Dizon, who reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to strengthening collaboration with private sector partners in shaping the country’s mobility future.
“Since its establishment in 1995, CAMPI has played a critical role in enabling domestic automotive production and supporting the broader motorization of the country,” Hon. Jose Chaves Alvarez, CAMPI Chairman, said. “Our achievements are a product of close cooperation between government bodies and industry stakeholders, which have enabled both economic contribution and improved quality of life for Filipinos.”
Chairman Alvarez also emphasized CAMPI’s commitment to lead through innovation. “As we mark this milestone, we reaffirm our role in driving the transformation of mobility. Today is not just a celebration of our legacy, but also a declaration of our readiness to build the future together, as one united CAMPI,” he added.
During the program, CAMPI introduced a renewed strategic direction to help the industry adapt to global and local developments. The first area of focus is technology and innovation. CAMPI aims to promote the adoption of electric vehicles, autonomous driving systems, and digital platforms as the foundation of future mobility solutions.
The second priority is sustainability. The group plans to support carbon neutrality efforts through fuel diversification, electrification, and energy-efficient practices that can help address environmental challenges.
Road safety also remains a key concern. CAMPI will push for the adoption of higher safety standards across the industry, in line with international benchmarks, to ensure better protection for all road users.
Lastly, CAMPI will work on strengthening the industry’s global competitiveness by investing in workforce development and regional integration. These efforts are aimed at ensuring the Philippine automotive sector can respond to both domestic needs and international demand.
“These pillars reflect our long-term direction as we strengthen the industry’s position amid global shifts,” Atty. Rommel Gutierrez, CAMPI president, said. “We remain steadfast in our commitment to a mobility ecosystem that is innovative, sustainable, safe, and globally competitive.”
