World No. 1 Magnus Carlsen claimed his seventh Norway Chess title Friday after drawing with Arjun Erigaisi in the final round.

Carlsen, playing Black, was in trouble early but recovered with precise endgame play. The game ended in a draw under heavy time pressure for both players.

The result was enough to clinch the 2025 title after Indian grandmaster D. Gukesh, Carlsen’s closest rival, lost to Fabiano Caruana following a costly blunder in a frantic time scramble.
