A 28-year-old woman was arrested on Monday afternoon, 2 June, after claiming a parcel containing over P6.8 million worth of suspected shabu at the Central Mall Exchange Center in Pasay City, the PNP Aviation Security Group confirmed Tuesday.
The parcel, flagged during routine x-ray screening, was subjected to a joint inspection by the NAIA Inter-Agency Drug Interdiction Task Group. It had been declared as “ladies wear and bags.” The woman presented valid identification upon claiming the package.
Authorities discovered 1,008 grams of suspected shabu concealed within the parcel’s contents. She was taken into custody and is now under the supervision of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency.
The suspect is expected to face charges for violating Republic Act No. 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
PNP Aviation Security Group chief PBGen. Christopher Abecia said the arrest highlights the effectiveness of coordinated efforts to intercept illegal drugs at airport-linked facilities.
