Businessman and philanthropist Curlee Discaya said Monday he will fully support the “good programs” of Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto, following Sotto’s landslide victory in the 2025 midterm elections.

Discaya’s wife, Sara, was defeated by Sotto, who secured a fresh term — his third and final term as local chief executive.

“We support Mayor Vico in all his good plans for Pasig. But we cannot support things that are not good. And we know what those things are,” Discaya disclosed in an interview. “We will help with anything that benefits the community.”

“This time, we will help with all his good programs. We will not be in opposition to all his good deeds in Pasig,” added the 50-year-old construction magnate, who runs a charity foundation that provides medical missions and community service projects.

Asked about a potential partnership with the city government, Discaya said he is open to it if given the opportunity and if the city government is willing to collaborate.

“They might not want to partner with us, like before, with the waiting sheds, they didn’t partner with us,” he said.

Discaya cited that they have stopped building waiting sheds for now, due to difficulties obtaining permits from the city government.

“For now, we have stopped that because the city requires permits, and we are having trouble with the permit requirements,” he said.

He clarified that they will continue to assist Pasig residents, particularly the needy and indigent, with medical and burial assistance.

“We are willing to provide that kind of help,” Discaya said.

Discaya also offered their vehicles for rescue operations and disaster response.

“We can lend them our backhoe, trucks to clean up garbage and debris. We can lend our coasters and dump trucks to help flood victims,” Discaya said.

“We also assist during fires, we have fire rescue and ambulances. We are ready for those kinds of situations,” he added.

Discaya assured Pasig residents that they will continue to provide assistance, focusing on those in dire need.

“We will focus on other kinds of assistance, like burial assistance, medical assistance, etc. We are not accepting solicitations for fiestas, leagues and other events right now,” Discaya said.

“We are prioritizing those in life-and-death situations,” he added. “Also, our medical missions will continue, but not as aggressively as before. Maybe we will do them monthly instead of weekly.”

Discaya said he has no regrets about providing assistance to Pasig residents, despite his wife’s election loss.

“Even though we lost, we know in our hearts that we are also winners because we fulfilled our desire to help Pasig on a larger scale,” Discaya said.
