Held recently at Aphro in Karrivin Plaza, Chino Roces extension, Makati City was “What have we done” — a gathering of five artists to create a not-so-ordinary pop-up showcasing their creative pursuits outside their art practice. The space brought together some of the country’s best for this contemporary exposition. The outstanding assembly of five included Jean Francois Bertrand, Patricia Perez Eustaquio, Maya Munoz, Gary Ross Pastrana and Therese Regalado.
This unique show was a marvelous collective of “exhibition worthy” pieces ranging from objects that straddle art and considerations ranging from objects that straddle art, design, furniture to clothes and plates. Patty Eustaquio is a painter and mixed media artist who designs and sews one-of-a-kind avant garde apparel. Jean Francois is a painter who made works in ceramics. Gary is a conceptual artist who made an object that looked like a chair. Maya is a painter who created a cement signage, and Therese is a painter who showed other uses for industrial materials.
Tina Fernandez, owner of Aphro, said, “Aphro encourages artists to have fun. This is where they can allow themselves to show creations, outside their artistic practices within the gallery space and play.”
