CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY — The provincial health office of Misamis Oriental on Monday issued an advisory that there is no report of MPOX (Monkeypox) case in Magsaysay town but urged residents to be vigilant and observe health protocols.
In a public advisory on Monday, the PHO, has no confirmed case in the provinces and the reported case in Magsaysay town in social media was actually in Magsaysay town, Davao del Sur in Southern Mindanao and another case in Zamboanga Peninsula.
“The current Monkeypox case reported is from Magsaysay Davao del Sur that is being properly managed by concerned health authorities. Let us remain calm and avoid panic. The provincial health office is closely monitoring the situation and coordinating with national health agencies to ensure public safety,” the advisory said.
The public is advised to continue observing health protocols:
• Practice regular handwashing;
• Avoid close contact with individuals showing symptoms;
• Seek medical attention if you feel unwell;
• Refrain from sharing unverified information or fake news. Misinformation can cause unnecessary fear and stigma;
• Stay informed through official sources such as the Provincial Health Office of Misamis Oriental, Department of Health and World Health Organization.
Meanwhile, the health department of this city issued on Monday, 26 May, a memorandum mandatorily requiring all its City Health Office (CHO) employees to wear mask within their working places effective immediately.
CHO Memorandum No. 139-2025 requires all CHO office emoloyees and Health Centers Field Personnel to comply with “Mandatory Wearing of Mask.”
“In line with the newly reported case of MPOX (formerly monkeypox) outside the region and as part (of) the prevention to any possible spread of diseases in this city, you are hereby directed to adhere (to) the Minimum Public Health Standards particularly mandatory wearing of mask in your workplace at all times, effective immediately,” the memorandum stated.
