The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) on Tuesday announced that it may further extend the dry run of the odd-even traffic scheme on EDSA.
Initially set for one week starting 16 June 2025, the agency said the dry run could last up to a month as part of efforts to prepare motorists for the new policy.
“Although tickets will not be issued and fines will not be imposed, motorists who violate this policy will be notified within one month as part of the information drive,” the MMDA said.
MMDA Chair Romando Artes earlier explained that the odd-even scheme aims to ease the anticipated traffic congestion due to EDSA’s rehabilitation.
“Vehicles with 1, 3, 5, 7, 9 ending plates are not allowed on EDSA on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Those with 0, 2, 4, 6, 8 ending plates are not allowed on Tuesday, Friday, and Saturday. On Sunday, all vehicles are free to pass through EDSA,” said Artes.
The MMDA added that a window period from 10PM to 5AM is being considered, although the scheme will initially be implemented 24/7.
