9% CRIME DROP! EPD efforts yield results

Crime incidents in the eastern part of Metro Manila continue to show a downward trend reducing to 9.26 percent in just one week, according to the Eastern Police District (EPD).

From 19-25 May 2025, index and non-index crimes significantly recorded 17.02 percent compared to May 12-18, 2025 which has a record of 26.28 percent crime incidents reinforcing the effectiveness of the EPD's visibility driven policing.

Among these operational accomplishments which took part on the reduced of crime in EPD were the anti-illegal drugs campaign with 44 operations, with 62 arrested persons, 1,204.24 grams of seized shabu, 3 grams of high-grade marijuana and 1.5 grams of marijuana with a total of P8,193,512 standard drug price.

On the other hand, in pursuit of apprehending lawless elements, a total of 44 manhunt operations were conducted, wherein 3 top most wanted person, 1 most wanted person and 40 other wanted persons were put behind bars.

On its intensified campaign against loose firearms, 1 offender was arrested and 1 unit firearm was recovered while 39 individuals were apprehended including P5,701 confiscated betting money within the 21 operations conducted against illegal gambling.

Under the steward leadership of EPD officer-in-charge P/Brig. Gen. Aden Lagradante, the district has rolled out a comprehensive visibility strategy anchored on proactive crime prevention, immediate police response, and community partnership. By maintaining a strong and consistent police presence, the District not only deters criminal activity but also builds trust and reassurance among residents and stakeholders.

This heightened visibility is evident across the cities of Pasig, Mandaluyong, Marikina, and San Juan, where foot patrols, mobile units, and strategic checkpoints work in synergy to deter crime and guarantee rapid police response. By maintaining an active presence in commercial centers, transportation terminals, residential zones, and high foot traffic locations, the EPD ensures that law enforcement is not only present but actively engaging with the community at all hours.
