

Interior and Local Goverment Secretary Jonvic Remulla expressed Monday that the Philippine National Police (PNP) must have "one and continuing vision and direction."
In an early morning press briefing at the Quezon City Police District headquarters in Camp Karingal, Remulla said that while the PNP should be "apolitical" organization, change in leadership has also change its vision and direction every new PNP Chief is named.
"Sa bilis ng kanilang promotional system at re-assignment, walang continuity. We will come up with a new Master Plan, new criterion in evaluating. our policemen. A matrix na responsive sa needs ng tao," Remulla emphasized, as referred to President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.'s latest marching order to the police to make the streets safer.
"Programa at direktiba yan ng Pangulo. Let'a talk about what should happen now. We are not fault finding. Solusyon ang hinahanap natin," he explained.
Remulla was the guest of Metro Manila police chief P/Maj.Gen. Anthony Aberin and other district commanders who
presented to the Secretary and the press, the intensified police visibility initiative of the NCRPO.
"Ang aim natin, di lang dito sa Metro Manila. We start the best practices here, the shared crime data base, na dapat sa buong bansa," Remulla pointed out.
"It's time to make the streets safer," he added.
He said the police should focus in critical areas like Region 4,7,3 and BARMM as this are considered "crime volume areas."
Remulla also revealed the activation of Emergency Hotline 117 for better police response and emeegency.
"Unified 117 system. Iba-iba kasi, we have 35 different emergency hotlines. Centralized na. The clock starts ticking when the call for assistance is received,"
the DILG secretary explained, adding that the police response will also be the matrix for police's promotion and evaluation.
"In less than a month, we will have the this Unified 117 system."
