Gilas Youth crush Vietnam in SEABA opener


Gilas Pilipinas Youth demolished Vietnam, 113-62, in their first game of the FIBA U16 Asia Cup SEABA Qualifiers Saturday evening at the Bren Z. Guiao Convention Center in San Fernando, Pampanga.
Travis Pascual dropped 16 points as the Philippines started its campaign with a 1-0 win-loss record.
It was also Gilas Youth's first win under head coach LA Tenorio, who was appointed last year.
Trailing by nine, 4-13, early in the first quarter, the Philippines went on a 25-7 onslaught and stayed ahead for the rest of the match.
Prince Cariño had a double-double night for Gilas Youth with 16 points and 12 rebounds while Joel Pascual added 14 points.
Gilas will face Thailand next on Sunday at 7 p.m. at the sam venue.
