A magnitude 5.4 earthquake struck La Union and nearby parts of Region I at 10:36 AM on 24 May 2025.
According to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS), the quake had a depth of 10 kilometers and was located at 16.88°N, 120.08°E — approximately 31 kilometers northwest of Luna, La Union.
The tremor was felt at varying intensities in several areas:
Intensity IV: Candon City and Vigan City, Ilocos Sur
Intensity III: Sinait, Ilocos Sur
Intensity II: Bangued, Abra; Tagudin, Ilocos Sur; San Fernando and Aringay, La Union; Bani, Infanta, and Bolinao, Pangasinan
Intensity I: Baguio City
PHIVOLCS did not report any expected aftershocks or damage.
