The Bureau of Immigration (BI) on Saturday afternoon reported the arrest of three South Korean nationals who were found working illegally at a private resort in Cavite.

According to the agency, the operation was conducted in line with President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.’s directives to strictly enforce anti-illegal immigration laws.

Fortunato Manahan Jr., chief of the BI Intelligence Division (BIID), said the three were taken into custody on 22 May at a private resort in a subdivision in General Trias, Cavite.

Manahan identified the three Koreans as Oh Hyunsik, a 51-year-old male; Kim Haeyoung, a 48-year-old female; and Kim Seoyeong, a 45-year-old male.

They were apprehended in coordination with the Philippine Navy and the Philippine National Police after the bureau received intelligence about the presence of an illegal alien in the area.

The arrest was made after intelligence officers verified during monitoring that the three were actively working at the resort.

According to BI, they were found operating in violation of Philippine immigration regulations by working without the required permits and visas.

Joel Anthony Viado, the BI commissioner, praised the arrest and stressed that foreigners must follow the law while in the country.

“We express our gratitude to our peers for their support during this operation. The quick and efficient arrest of illegal aliens depends heavily on our close cooperation with our law enforcement partners. Collaborative efforts like this show our shared commitment to upholding the law and maintaining national security,” Atty. Viado added.
