President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has called on Cabinet secretaries to submit courtesy resignations in order to "recalibrate" his administration following the results of the 2025 midterm elections.
“It’s time to realign government with the people’s expectations," Marcos said in a statement released by the Presidential Communications Office (PCO).
“This is not business as usual,” Marcos noted. “The people have spoken, and they expect results—not politics, not excuses. We hear them, and we will act.”
In his first podcast episode, Marcos said he is reviewing the performance of his administration's Cabinet, warning members who are engaged in corruption that they will be dismissed from their duties and might face charges.
The President stressed that the courtesy resignations is not a reflection of each member's personalities but about the overall performance of the government, alignment, and urgency.
"This is not about personalities—it’s about performance, alignment, and urgency,” he said.
“Those who have delivered and continue to deliver will be recognized. But we cannot afford to be complacent. The time for comfort zones is over," he added.
While Marcos recognizes the dedication and professionalism of each Cabinet members, he emphasized the "evolving needs" of the country.
As the government overhaul will trigger a change in agency leadership, Marcos said government service will remain uninterrupted stressing stability, continuity, and meritocracy as the guide of the next set of Cabinet secretaries of the administration.
