Passengers can expect lower ticket prices starting June as the Civil Aeronautics Board (CAB) slashed fuel surcharges to its lowest level on record.

In an advisory released Wednesday, CAB announced that fuel surcharges for June will drop to Level 3 from the current Level 4, citing easing global fuel prices. The new surcharge rates will apply to both domestic and international flights.

“Airlines wishing to impose or collect fuel surcharges for the same period must file their application with this office on or before the effectivity period, with fuel surcharge rates not exceeding the above-stated level,” the regulator said.

Under Level 3, passengers will pay an additional P83 to P300 for domestic flights, and P273.36 to P2,032.54 for international routes, lower than the current Level 4 rates of P117 to P342 (domestic) and P385.70 to P2,867.82 (international).

Cebu Pacific President and Chief Commercial Officer Xander Lao welcomed the move, saying the reduced surcharge supports ongoing demand for travel as Filipinos plan vacations and overseas trips.

"We welcome the decision of the Civil Aeronautics Board to lower the fuel surcharge for June. This recent adjustment supports our efforts to offer more affordable travel to even more destinations, as seen by our increase in routes — especially in our hubs outside of Manila, such as Clark, Iloilo, Cebu, and Davao,” Lao said.
