The Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) is reinforcing its dual mandate of public service and ethical gaming, recently delivering vital health equipment in Mindanao while convening hundreds of gaming agents in a summit on responsible operations.
On 6 May, PCSO officials led by Director Imelda Papin, assistant general manager Arnel Casas, and Mindanao Department manager Ellyn Ostan turned over seven Patient Transport Vehicles (PTVs) to local government units in Davao Oriental.
The donation, held at the provincial capitol covered court in Mati City, aims to improve emergency healthcare response in the city of Mati and the municipalities of Baganga, Banaybanay, Cateel, Caraga, Lupon and Tarragona.
“This is part of our mission to make essential healthcare more accessible, especially in underserved areas,” said Papin, as the PCSO reiterated its commitment to improving community welfare through its revenue-generating games.
A week later, on 13 May, the agency shifted focus to its frontliners in the gaming sector, gathering 430 Lotto and 79 Small Town Lottery (STL) agents from across the country for the 2025 PCSO Agents’ Summit at the newly inaugurated Foro de Intramuros in Manila.
With the theme “Beyond the Jackpot: A Commitment to Responsible Gaming,” the summit underscored the importance of ethics and integrity in lottery operations.
PCSO general manager Mel Robles emphasized that agents are not merely operators but advocates.
“Your role in promoting responsible gaming and protecting players from exploitative practices is crucial,” said Robles. “Every legal bet placed funds lives and saves lives.”
The summit also featured talks from government and industry leaders on illegal gambling, digital modernization, and ethical standards.
A panel discussion and open dialogue capped the summit, highlighting agent concerns and reinforcing collaboration. PCSO executives assured continued innovation and accountability.
