The Provincial Government Services Office (PGSO) of Abra reported that eight of the previously unaccounted for government vehicles have been recovered following the conclusion of the 12 May national and local elections.
According to the PGSO, the recovered vehicles include a skid loader, an excavator, a dump truck, six SUV pickups, a van and two motorcycles. PGSO officer Cherish Lantano said that only one vehicle, a luxury van, remains missing.
PGSO motorpool chief Ubaldo Claustro expressed relief over the recovery of the vehicles, noting that although they were issued to government personnel, the units were not in use and were considered missing.
Claustro added that each vehicle was assigned to individual employees, who were responsible for their safekeeping.
PGSO utility worker Hernando Verzola confirmed that one of the recovered motorcycles had been assigned to him based on a memorandum receipt.
However, he said he had only seen the motorcycle once and was never able to use it. “I couldn’t use the motorcycle anyway since I don’t know how to ride one,” Verzola said.
Acting Abra Provincial Governor Russel Bragas expressed hope that the remaining vehicle would be recovered before the end of his term.
He emphasized the importance of ensuring that government properties are used appropriately and for their intended purpose.
