Embroiled in an apparent blame game, Alyansa Para sa Bagong Pilipinas campaign manager and Navotas City Rep. Toby Tiangco has yet to meet with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., according to Malacañang.
In a media briefing Monday, Palace press officer Undersecretary Claire Castro said so far Malacañang had no reaction to the statement of Tiangco in which he blamed the lawmakers who pushed for the impeachment of Vice President Sara Duterte for the administration slate’s failure to score a resounding win in the recent polls.
“We have not yet received any reaction from the President regarding that, even if it is true,” Castro said.
Instead, Tiangco has been urged to leave all campaign matters behind and focus on serving the people, rather than dwelling on the outcome of the 2025 midterm elections.
“The only information we were given was that whatever issues arose during the campaign should be left behind, and everyone should continue with their respective jobs. This is for the people,” Castro said.
Of the 11 candidates endorsed by Alyansa, only six secured Senate seats. They are Senators-elect Erwin Tulfo, Panfilo “Ping” Lacson, Vicente “Tito” Sotto III, Pia Cayetano, Lito Lapid, and Camille Villar.
Villar, however, was also endorsed by Vice President Duterte, which further boosted her chances of winning.
Earlier, his fellow lawmakers — particularly Quad Committee Chair Robert “Ace” Barbers — slammed Tiangco for his statement, pointing out that most of the lawmakers who had signed the impeachment complaint against Duterte were reelected.
This contradicted Tiangco’s claim that Duterte’s impeachment affected the administration’s chances in the midterm election.
