The Employers Confederation of the Philippines (ECOP) said it is united with the nation in hoping for honest and safe elections, while encouraging losing candidates to accept their fate and move on.

“To those who gave a good fight but lost in the election, try to move on, respect the result, and support the winning team of leaders," said Edgardo Lacson, chairperson of ECOP, in a Viber message.

"To the winners, be magnanimous and deliver your promises,” Lacson further urged.

Voters — roughly 68.43 million — have until 7 p.m. on Monday to cast their votes, selecting 12 senators and party-list representatives for the national posts.

A total of 156 party-list groups are vying to secure at least one seat in the Party-list system.

The Commission on Elections earlier said that for local posts, 82 seats will be proclaimed in the coming days for Provincial Governors and Vice Governors, 800 seats for Sangguniang Panlalawigan Members, 1,642 seats for City and Municipal Mayors, and 13,638 seats for City and Municipal Councilors.

“Like most Filipinos, I wish we had a peaceful, honest, and quick count of votes so we can continue our quest for a progressive Philippines,” Lacson told DAILY TRIBUNE.
