First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos praised the Indian government for its warm welcome to New Delhi where she accompanied President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to the 18th BRICS Summit.

“A little appreciation for the wonderful people who made our stay in New Delhi feel a lot like home, Dhanyavaad!” she said in a Facebook post.

“To our hardworking Philippine Embassy team, thank you for looking after us so well and for everything you do for our kababayan here in India,” she added.

The President and the First Lady stayed at the Taj Palace in New Delhi, which has hosted heads of nations and business leaders since 1983.

The luxury hotel, which spans six acres of landscaped grounds, features modern interiors complemented by regional art.

“To the lovely staff of the Taj Palace, thank you for your warm hospitality, kindness, and all the thoughtful little touches throughout our stay,” she said.

Food, company bring people together

In New Delhi, the First Lady also met with some of her friends.

“Nothing brings people together quite like good food and even better company. So nice to slow down, share a delicious meal, and enjoy easy conversations and lots of laughter with friends here in India,” she said.

Mrs. Marcos also joined the President during the Gala Night of the BRICS Summit, hosted by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the Bharat Mandapam.

“We especially enjoyed the beautiful performances of Navarasa and the BRICS Symphony which brought together talented musicians from across India in one wonderful celebration of music and culture. Thank you, Prime Minister Modi, for your gracious hospitality and for making us feel so warmly welcomed,” she said.
