Nippon Paint (Coatings) Philippines, Inc. has rolled out its latest exterior paint line, Weatherbond Quartz series, positioning it as a high-performance solution tailored to withstand the country’s unpredictable and often extreme weather.
Established in 1881, Nippon Paint brings over a century of experience to the coatings industry. Now in its 144th year, the company continues to expand its reach, with the Philippines being one of its key markets in Southeast Asia. The new product is part of the brand’s broader strategy to adapt its offerings to regional climates and consumer needs.
“Weatherbond is our flagship exterior paint,” said Nippon Paint Philippines general manager Chen Lee Siong, during a roundtable interview with media. “It’s been introduced in many countries, and we believe it’s time to bring it to the Philippines, where homes and buildings regularly face intense sun, rain and humidity.”
Weatherbond Quartz features several protective technologies, including a quartz-based formulation that strengthens the paint film, resistance to dirt and alkali, UV-reflecting properties, and microbial protection against mold and algae. According to the company, these technologies work together to prevent common issues like discoloration, peeling and surface heat buildup.
More than a technical upgrade, the launch also underscores Nippon Paint’s attempt to tap into the emotional and cultural value Filipino homeowners place on their spaces.
“For many Filipinos, a house isn’t just a structure — it’s a legacy,” Chen said. “It holds memories and dreams across generations. That’s why we developed a product that goes beyond surface protection. We wanted something that could stand the test of time, harsh weather and everyday wear.”
Chen also cited the company’s longstanding track record as a reassurance of quality, saying, “We are number one in Japan, and number one in the Asia Pacific region. Globally, we’re the fourth largest paint company. That kind of heritage gives us the credibility to stand behind what we’re offering.”
While the paint industry in the Philippines remains competitive — with demand driven by real estate growth, climate resilience, and aesthetics — Nippon Paint hopes to differentiate itself by emphasizing performance and environmental awareness. Weatherbond Quartz is also recognized as a Green Choice product, aligning with the growing push for sustainability in construction and design.
The new line is now available through select distribution channels, with the company targeting both homeowners and professionals involved in construction, renovation, and architectural design.
