The Commission on Elections (Comelec) on Saturday clarified that a National ID is not required for individuals to vote in the midterm elections on 12 May.
The poll body refuted a circulating Facebook post that falsely claimed voters who fail to present their National ID on election day would be barred from casting their votes.
It emphasized that no “No National ID, No Vote” advisory was ever posted on any of Comelec’s official social media platforms.
“It was not posted on the official and verified social media channels of the Comelec on any social media platforms,” the agency said.
Comelec added, “Voters will only be asked to present a valid ID in case their identity cannot be verified through the Election Day Computerized Voters' List (EDCVL).”
The commission urged the public to help stop the spread of misinformation and to always verify news through official Comelec sources.
Comelec also recently launched its online precinct finder for the May 2025 elections. Registered voters can access it via this link.
The website requires the voter's full name, birthday, and place of registration.
