Three earthquakes struck the province of Cagayan in the Philippines on Thursday, with no immediate reports of damage.

The first earthquake, measuring a magnitude of 5.0, occurred at 10:45 a.m. at a depth of 31 kilometers. It struck at coordinates 19.28°N, 121.15°E, 19 kilometers north-northwest of Dalupiri Island (Cagayan). According to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS), the quake was tectonic in origin, resulting from movement along faults and plate boundaries.

At the same time, a second earthquake with a magnitude of 4.7 was recorded at a depth of 30 kilometers. This tremor hit at 19.25°N, 121.17°E, 16 kilometers north-northwest of Dalupiri Island (Cagayan). PHIVOLCS also reported that aftershocks were expected.

Intensity IV was reported in Calayan, Cagayan, while intensity I was recorded in Pasuquin, Ilocos Norte, and Aparri, Cagayan. Instrumental intensity I was also noted in Pasuquin, Ilocos Norte.

A third earthquake struck at 1:26 p.m., with a magnitude of 3.3 and a depth of 9 kilometers. The tremor was centered at 19.54°N, 121.81°E, located 11 kilometers north-northwest of Babuyan Island, Cagayan.

No damages have been reported, but aftershocks are expected.
