Alternergy Holdings Corp. (ALTER), through its unit Alternergy Wind Holdings Corp. (AWHC), has secured a second certificate of authority (CoA) from the Department of Energy (DoE) for a planned 150-megawatt (MW) onshore wind project in Batangas.
ALTER said on Friday that the DoE approval gives AWHC exclusive rights to assess wind resources across 3,807 hectares spanning Batangas City and Lobo.
The company has three years to complete pre-feasibility studies and obtain government permits. The CoA may be upgraded to a 25-year Wind Energy Service Contract if viable.
Post-2026 pipeline
The Batangas project is part of ALTER’s post-2026 pipeline, following its “Road to 500 MW by 2026” initiative. AWHC previously secured a CoA for a similar project in Albay.
Projects in Tanay, Rizal, and Alabat, Quezon are also underway.
The Batangas and Albay projects mark ALTER’s fifth and sixth wind ventures. Its founders pioneered local wind energy development with the Bangui Bay wind farm in 2005, followed by Pililla, Rizal in 2015.
