A new alliance between Philippine Airlines (PAL) and Alaska Airlines (AS) expanded travel choices for frequent travelers of both the local flag carrier and the Seattle-based US airline.

The PAL-Alaska partnership will go into effect, giving passengers more freedom and benefits by enabling members of both airlines’ loyalty programs to accumulate and redeem miles across each other’s networks.

“We are honored to collaborate with Alaska Airlines to give our Mabuhay Miles members even more value. This strategic partnership greatly expands our network and flight possibilities, giving our Mabuhay Miles customers more connectivity and flexibility in where and how they use their miles. It’s a thrilling advancement that has improved our entire travel experience,” PAL vice president for marketing Alvin Miranda stated.

Meanwhile, Alaska Airlines commercial chief officer Andrew Harrison stated that PAL is an excellent addition to their list of worldwide carriers that provide world-class service and amenities.

The substantial Filipino communities in Hawaii, California, and Washington state can fly on PAL’s long-haul, widebody aircraft and quickly earn valuable Mileage Plan miles for their trans-Pacific journeys.

As a result of the agreement, members of Alaska Airlines’ Mileage Plan and PAL’s Mabuhay Miles frequent flyer programs will have more earning and redemption options. Members of the Mileage Plan will soon be able to earn miles on qualified PAL routes, and Mabuhay Miles members will soon be able to accumulate miles on qualified AS flights.

Perfect fit

Through Honolulu and PAL’s US West Coast gateways in Seattle, Los Angeles, and San Francisco, PAL and Alaska Airlines provide convenient connections. Alaska Airlines’ vast domestic network includes a variety of US locations that PAL customers will also have easier access to.

To further improve connectivity and provide passengers with more convenient options when flying between the Philippines and the United States, PAL and Alaska Airlines are exploring ways to extend their partnership to include reciprocal code-sharing agreements covering important cities in both airlines’ networks.

Additionally, the new frequent flyer collaboration will strengthen PAL’s current relationship with Hawaiian Airlines, another Alaska Airlines Group member.
