The Alyansa Para sa Bagong Pilipinas coalition plans to bring its Senate slate to Batangas on 3 May, aiming to bolster support in a key battleground ahead of the 2025 midterm elections.
Batangas, the seventh most populous province in the Philippines, has 1,958,794 registered voters. The province proved pivotal in the 2022 elections, with unofficial tallies showing it delivered 719,492 votes for Ferdinand Marcos Jr. compared to 655,811 for his closest competitor.
Given its history of close races and a high voter turnout of 87.26 percent in 2022, the province is considered a crucial target for coalitions seeking national influence.
Alyansa campaign manager and Navotas City Representative Toby Tiangco stressed Batangas' significance beyond its voter count, describing it as a province with "political energy and leadership that can sway the national balance."
“Batangas has always been a province that sets the tone for elections,” Tiangco said. “Its people are discerning, dynamic and decisive. Alyansa is here to match that spirit with experience, action and a clear plan for a stronger Bagong Pilipinas.”
In Batangas, the coalition is expected to focus on issues such as disaster resilience, agricultural modernization, rural healthcare, infrastructure development, and expanded economic opportunities.
Tiangco stated that Alyansa’s platform aligns with the Marcos administration’s “Bagong Pilipinas” agenda, which aims to promote growth, stability, and good governance nationwide.
“Our candidates offer more than promises,” he said. “They offer experience, action and a shared vision of a better future for Batangas and the entire country.”
The Batangas event is part of Alyansa’s broader strategy to build grassroots support across provinces as the campaign intensifies.
