Operatives from the Manila Police District (MPD) arrested three men early Monday in Binondo, including a former police officer and another man wearing a police uniform, after a random checkpoint yielded multiple firearms and a hand grenade.
Police identified the suspects as Zoren Ramirez, a former police officer; Kenjie Principe, a food delivery rider and Eduardo Miguel, a property manager.
The arrest occurred around 4:30 a.m. Monday along Yuchengco Street near the corner of San Vicente Street in Binondo, Manila.
According to a police report, officers conducting “Oplan Sita,” a routine checkpoint operation, intercepted a red Mitsubishi Mirage with plate number AZ452B.
Upon approaching the vehicle, officers observed Ramirez and Principe wearing police uniforms. When questioned about their assignment, they claimed to be with the Quezon City Police District but failed to present any coordination papers or police identification cards.
Becoming suspicious, officers approached the car more closely and spotted a hand grenade. Police drew their service pistols and ordered the three men to exit the vehicle.
