The Quezon City Police District (QCPD) conducted a one-day seminar on the Data Privacy Act over the weekend at Camp Karingal in Sikatuna Village, Quezon City.
The seminar, attended by 32 personnel from the district headquarters and various police stations, aimed to improve awareness and ensure compliance with Republic Act 10173, or the Data Privacy Act of 2012.
Atty. Mhysel Anne C. Aquillo, Legal Researcher III from the Compliance and Monitoring Division of the National Privacy Commission, served as the resource speaker. She discussed the law’s key provisions, including the principles and criteria for the lawful processing of personal data.
Aquillo underscored the responsibility of law enforcement agencies in protecting personal information, saying that proper data handling builds public trust and strengthens accountability.
QCPD officials said the seminar forms part of ongoing efforts to institutionalize data protection measures and align police operations with national privacy standards.
