It feels almost like a ‘90s throwback with the trailer release of "I Know What You Did Last Summer," featuring the return of OG cast Jennifer Love Hewitt and Freddie Prinze Jr.
The new film in the cult horror franchise has the two actors reprising their original roles as Julie James and Ray Bronson as they navigate the return of their nemesis, the man with the hook.
In the original 1997 film, the four central characters, which included Sarah Michelle Gellar and Ryan Philippe, are haunted and hunted by a killer a year after they killed a man in a hit-and-run accident.
In the 2025 release, directed by Jennifer Kaytin Robinson, who also co-wrote the film with Leah McKendrick, it’s a return to Southport, where five friends make a pact to cover up their involvement in a deadly car accident.
A year later, the past comes back to haunt them and they are stalked by a killer. To survive the summer, they seek out the help of the two lone survivors of the infamous 1997 massacre.
"I Know What You Did Last Summer" has a fresh cast of newcomers joining Hewitt and Prinze Jr., including Madelyn Cline, Chase Sui Wonders, Lola Tung, Nicholas Alexander Chavez, Austin Nichols, Sarah Pidgeon, Billy Campbell, and others. Camilla Mendes was also said to star in the film, but dropped out due to schedule conflicts.
The film premieres in cinemas this July.
