In a moving tribute to enduring friendship and cultural unity, the Embassy of Greece hosted a grand celebration of Greece’s National Day and the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations with the Philippines last 24 March.
The monumental affair held at the Fairmont Hotel in Makati City brought together ambassadors, dignitaries, government officials and close friends in a night of shared history, vibrant culture and heartfelt connection.
Greek Ambassador to the Philippines Ioannis Pediotis reflected on the journey that began in 1947, when Greece first established its Honorary General Consulate in Manila.
“Today, our relationship is that of a warm friendship and close proximity — I would say identical — to all international issues, especially on the law of the sea, the peaceful resolution of dispute and climate change,” the Ambassador remarked.
The event, which was the second-ever celebration of Greece’s National Day in the Philippines, was an immersive experience blending heritage and festivity. The evening was hosted by professor Dr. Anton Juan. No festivity of Greek culture would be complete without an indulgent, expansive buffet featuring the country’s authentic cuisine.
The unforgettable celebration was a tribute to a friendship anchored on mutual respect, cultural affinity and a journey of history, heritage and hope. The evening honored the past and future collaborations and connection between Greece and the Philippines.
