The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) has carried out a recent resupply mission at Ayungin (Second Thomas) Shoal in the West Philippine Sea (WPS) without any Chinese interference.
In a statement, the AFP said that the 9 April rotation and resupply (Rore) mission to Filipino troops stationed at the country’s military outpost, BRP Sierra Madre, at Ayungin shoal in WPS, marked the third such mission this year.
This follows successful operations on 24 January and 4 March.
“As the nation marks the 83rd anniversary of the Day of Valor, the AFP honors the courage and dedication of our soldiers aboard BRP Sierra Madre who continue to stand guard in the West Philippine Sea to uphold our sovereignty, sovereign rights, and national interest,” AFP Public Affairs chief Col. Xerxes Trinidad said.
The AFP stressed it also marked the seventh successful resupply mission without incident, following similar operations on 27 July 2024, 26 September 2024, 14 November 2024 and 12 December 2024.
However, the military did not provide further details regarding the mission.
“This milestone continues to highlight the AFP’s unwavering commitment to ensuring continuous logistical and operational support for our personnel, despite the challenging security environment in the West Philippine Sea,” Trinidad said.
