Coinciding with the commemoration of “Araw ng Kagitingan,” or Day of Valor, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. ordered all government agencies concerned to expedite the processing of the benefits due uniformed personnel killed in action.

The President issued the directive during the awarding of certificates from the National Housing Authority and financial assistance to the families of fallen soldiers and members of the Citizen Armed Force Geographical Unit in Camp Aguinaldo, Quezon City.

Sixty-two families of fallen uniformed personnel received benefits, including P500,000 worth of financial assistance to be given in two tranches.

“This is perfectly timed because, as we were preparing for the commemoration of the Day of Valor, we also discussed this. I said, we must honor our fallen comrades by keeping our promise to them that we will take care of their families no matter what happens. We will not abandon them,” Marcos said.

He acknowledged the common complaints of beneficiaries regarding the long and complicated process of receiving the benefits.

The President assured them the government would improve the process so the family members would receive their benefits promptly.

“So, to you, the beneficiaries of our programs for the families of those who died while serving our country, today I can say that we will give you everything you have been waiting for so long,” Marcos said.

“We are ensuring that all families who have lost loved ones will receive their benefits as soon as possible, and we will begin today,” he added.
