With Holy Week and school breaks just around the corner, many Filipinos are already planning their much-needed vacations. For those who haven’t yet considered sea travel, now could be the perfect time to book a trip on 2GO’s MV 2GO Maligaya — the fastest and largest vessel currently cruising Philippine waters.
As the country’s pride in modern sea travel, the Maligaya — which connects Manila to various destinations including Cebu, Cagayan de Oro, Bacolod and Iloilo, among others — promises a smoother, faster, and more comfortable journey, setting a new standard for both leisure and business travel.
Named after the Filipino word for a deeper sense of joy and happiness, the Maligaya embodies the spirit of Filipino travel—a journey that’s not just about the destination but the experience itself.
Launched in 2021 as part of 2GO’s efforts to modernize its fleet, this state-of-the-art vessel enhances the company’s commitment to reliable sea and goods transport, ensuring that both passengers and cargo are handled with care and efficiency.
Yours truly, as consultant to the 2GO Group, was lucky to experience an MV Maligaya trip to Bacolod when I was invited to join the Sales & Operations Planning of 2GO Sea Solutions last month. The experience changed my perspective on RORO ships and made me look forward to traveling by sea again with 2GO for a more customer-centric travel.
Looking back on Maligaya’s journey, it’s impossible not to reflect on the 2GO’s innovation and commitment to excellence especially in its transformative year that was 2024.
One of the biggest milestones last year was the launch of its ship re-fleeting program, which introduced a new generation of vessels— the MV 2GO Masigla, MV 2GO Masinag and MV 2GO Masikap. Building on the vision for the Maligaya, these ships increased cargo by 33%, improving operational efficiency and making sea travel more comfortable. Today, 2GO boasts nine RORO ships and a cargo freighter.
The fleet expansion didn’t stop at new ships. It also opened new routes, including key destinations like Davao and General Santos City, effectively broadening the company’s footprint across the archipelago. With these additions, 2GO could better serve communities and businesses, ensuring the smooth movement of goods and passengers alike.
A major part of 2GO’s success in 2024 was its ability to foster strong, strategic partnerships. The company worked with organizations like IRONMAN Philippines to provide vital logistics support for one of the country’s most prestigious international events. Another key partnership was with the Department of Tourism, which helped promote travel and tourism within the Philippines.
The collaboration with Cebu Pacific further exemplified 2GO’s commitment to improving its logistical capabilities, particularly in cargo scanning and air forwarding processes. This has helped connect supply chains fast and to more areas.
Such collaborations allowed 2GO to play a bigger role in driving economic activity while supporting the communities across the Philippines.
This 2025, 2GO is poised for continued growth, building on the strong foundation established in 2024. And the company is definitely not slowing down. In the works are further improvements to the journey of our passengers, enhancement of cold chain services and continuing development of logistics solutions to help more MSMEs grow.
With a modernized fleet, a solid network of partnerships, and an unrelenting commitment to customer satisfaction, 2GO is redefining the future of Filipino sea travel and economic progress. 2GO is definitely positioned not just for a successful year but a future where 2GO is the go-to for booking a trip or shipping goods across the archipelago.
