MISAMIS ORIENTAL — The Commission on Elections (Comelec) is evaluating political campaign materials confiscated during “Operation Baklas” to determine if cases should be filed against the concerned candidates.
Provincial Election Supervisor Carlito Ravelo told the DAILY TRIBUNE that Comelec election offices across various municipalities and cities in Misamis Oriental conducted “Operation Baklas” recently.
He said they are now assessing the materials for election offenses in violation of Republic Act 9006 and the Fair Election Act.
Since 11 February, Comelec has reminded national candidates to follow the guidelines set by the poll body for the safe and successful conduct of the upcoming elections on 12 May.
Ravelo said Comelec-MisOr has dismantled nearly all illegally posted campaign materials during “Operation Baklas” on the first day of the local campaign period.
