ISABELA CITY, Basilan — The provincial government has offered a monetary reward of P1 million to anyone who can provide information on the whereabouts of five Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs) who bolted the Basilan Provincial Jail on Sunday afternoon.
Basilan Governor Hadjiman S. Hataman-Salliman said yesterday that the provincial government is offering a reward of P1 million to anyone who can provide information that could lead to the recovery of the five fugitives.
Hataman said the five PDLs are facing “heinous crimes” and are considered dangerous in the community if authorities will not be able to account for them and bring them back to the Basilan provincial jail facility.
According to the governor, Amar Mohammad, a resident of Al-Barka town, Teddi Boga of Barangay Baguindan in Tipo-Tipo and Mahad Hassan of Barangay Mahatallang, Sumisip are all facing two counts of murder.
On the other hand, Muad Ahmad of Barangay Tambulig and Ibrahim Badju of Barangay Tuburan Proper, both located in Mohammad Ajul, Basilan, are facing charges of illegally manufacturing Improvised Explosive Device explosives and illegal possession of high-powered firearms and ammunition.
Hataman said the members of the Basilan Provincial Board had given him the green light to offer a reward to an informant that could lead to the recapture of the fleeing prisoners.
The five PLDs bolted the Basilan Provincial Jail located at Geras Road in Barangay Sumagdang in this city at about 4:20 p.m. on Sunday.
Basilan Provincial Police Office Director Col. Cerrazid Umabong said two men had posed as PDL visitors and, upon entering the jail facility gate, they pointed a handgun at the jail guard identified as jail guard Baser S. Halilulla.
