A total of 77 Philippine embassies and consulates worldwide will implement internet voting for the upcoming national and local elections in May, according to the Commission on Elections (Comelec).
For the first time ever, Filipino voters abroad will be able to cast their ballots online in a bid to make voting easier for the 1,241,690 overseas Filipino voters.
As of 1 April, there are currently 17,323 overseas voters registered for internet voting.
Enrollment for the Overseas Voting and Counting System (OVCS) runs until 7 May. Those who enroll will be able to cast their votes through their mobile phones or personal computers.
Meanwhile, in-person and mail-in voting will be implemented in countries where internet voting is restricted, including China, Turkey, Russia, Jordan, Iran, and Libya, among others.
The overseas voting period is from 13 April to 12 May.
