JOLO, Sulu Province — The 11th Infantry (Alakdan) Division has  conducted a Couple Tour in Sulu province, offering military personnel and their spouses a “rare and meaningful experience” of gaining deeper insight into military life while also discovering the breathtaking natural beauty of Sulu.

Maj. Gen. Leonardo I. Peña, commander of the 11th Infantry Division (ID) and Joint Task Force (JTF)-Orion, said yesterday that the initiative sought to strengthen family bonds, uplift spirits and foster a deeper appreciation for the immense sacrifices of soldiers and their families.

Peña  said, “By bridging the gap between duty and home, it highlighted the resilience, love, and commitment that fuel their shared mission of peace and security.”

The tour began in mid-March at the division’s headquarters, immersing couples in military life while showcasing the stunning landscapes surrounding each camp.

At the 1103rd Infantry (Kalis) Brigade in Camp Bud Datu, Tagbak, Indanan, they marveled at the panoramic views of Sulu’s rolling hills.

The 1101st Infantry (Gagandilan) Brigade in Talipao offered serene open fields, reflecting its mission of stability.

In Luuk, the 1102nd  Infantry (Ganarul) Brigade led by Brig. Gen. Alaric Avelino delos Santos, the Brigade Commander, stood against a picturesque coastal backdrop, symbolizing its role as a guardian of land and sea.

Finally, at the 21st Infantry (Invincible) Battalion in Panamao, couples admired the tranquil Seit Lake, mirroring the soldiers’ resilience. Each stop deepened their appreciation for both military service and Sulu’s natural beauty.

Delos Santos said the tour blended military life with moments of peace as couples explored Sulu’s pristine shores — Man’s Beach, Bulangsih Beach and Hasiman Beach.

As the sun set over Hasiman Beach, families shared stories, laughter and a simple yet meaningful meal, Delos Santos narrated.

In that serene setting, the event became more than just a tour — it was a celebration of love, sacrifice and the unbreakable bond of military families, Delos Santos shared.

The Alakdan Division understands that behind every dedicated soldier is a family that sacrifices just as much.
