Senator Cynthia Villar formally kicked off her campaign for a congressional seat in Las Piñas City on Thursday, 28 March, by attending a Mass at San Ezekiel Moreno Church alongside her local running mates under the Nacionalista Party.
Marking her return to local politics, Villar emphasized that her campaign will focus on long-standing principles and key advocacies, especially in agriculture, environmental protection, and community development.
"I must continue the local projects I initiated when I first became congresswoman of Las Piñas and later as Senator, and introduce more programs to support my fellow Las Piñeros," Villar said.
Villar, who served three terms as senator and previously held the congressional post for Las Piñas, said she remains committed to initiatives that tackle flooding, improve housing, and provide livelihood and infrastructure programs. She noted that her candidacy is grounded in service, not status.
“We need local leaders who prioritize the welfare of our communities,” she added.
Villar also said her run for Congress is a tribute to her father, who spent many years serving Las Piñas.
