A nationwide and global tribute to the 80th birthday of former president Rodrigo Roa Duterte will be held to seek divine intervention for his release and return. Duterte is currently detained at the International Criminal Court (ICC) to face trial for alleged crimes against humanity, organizers announced on Thursday.

Return Duterte Movement co-convenor Benito Ranque released details of the activities for the former president’s birthday, including the "Bring Duterte Home" Unity motorcade. The motorcade will travel from various parts of the country to Manila and Quezon City to celebrate Duterte’s 80th birthday. Duterte, who was described as "kidnapped," is currently detained in a prison facility in The Hague, Netherlands, to face trial for alleged crimes against humanity.

The Unity Caravan will begin in Lingayen, Pangasinan, and Lucena City, with groups from places such as Tacloban, Ormoc, Davao City, Butuan, Surigao, Cebu City, Bohol, and other locations also hosting their own Unity motorcades in their respective localities.

From Lucena City, the Unity motorcade will converge in Lingayen, Pangasinan, at 6 AM on 28 March, then travel to Manila, passing through service roads where additional riders will join the motorcade.

“It will be a 12-hour trip, and upon reaching Manila and Quezon City, candlelight ceremonies will be held at Liwasang Bonifacio and the People Power Monument,” Ranque said.

Riders will wear green and bring flags, banners, and the spirit of unity and patriotism to make the event proud and unforgettable.

Major riders' groups will lead the motorcade, while volunteers will wait along service roads in the provinces to show their support for the former president, who will be spending his 80th birthday behind bars in a foreign country.
