The Pasig City government on Wednesday inaugurated the newly renovated Pasig City Museum, marking a significant milestone in preserving the city’s rich history and cultural heritage.

After being closed for eight years, the museum is now open to the public, offering enhanced exhibits and guided tours designed to deepen Pasigueños’ appreciation of the city’s past.

During the ceremony, Pasig City Museum Officer-in-Charge Ana Katrinah San Mateo highlighted the museum’s upgrades, including a wide range of exhibits chronicling Pasig’s vibrant history from the 1800s to the present, and its indigenous communities. A dedicated room also features the legacy of the Concepcion Family — the founders of the mansion-turned-museum — through photographs and artifacts.

Mayor Vico Sotto recalled the City Government’s efforts to restore and improve the museum since 2019. These efforts were briefly paused during the pandemic and resumed in 2022. He emphasized the need to maximize the museum's limited space while ensuring it remains informative, interactive, and engaging for future generations of Pasigueños.

Congressman Roman Romulo shared personal anecdotes from his past visits to the museum and encounters with descendants of the Concepcion Family during the pandemic. He underscored the importance of documenting the stories surrounding the mansion and commended the city's progress in preserving historical sites, while noting that more work remains.

Vice Mayor Dodot Jaworski Jr. emphasized the value of historical awareness in relation to the museum’s reopening.

Originally known as the Lumang Mansyon ng mga Concepcion, the Pasig City Museum is a historical landmark in the heart of the city. Built in 1937 by then-Mayor Don Fortunato Concepcion for his wife, Doña Victoria Concepcion, the mansion has served many roles—from a torture house during World War II to a clinic, residence, and eventually, an educational space after being acquired by the local government in the 1980s.

The Pasig City Museum is now open to the public from Tuesday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Guided and group tours are also available on weekends by appointment.
